    Abstract:
This paper discusses goals and strategy for teaching Bayesian thought without the use of calculus in undergraduate courses and in workshops for academics in nonmathematical fields. The primary goal is making these audiences better consumers of the statistical output presented in both the popular press as well as professional journals. The strategy makes use of case studies as a primary motivational and conceptual tool, course mapping, active learning, and spaced practice with repetition. Examples of case studies, assignments, and assessment methods are provided. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
