   Abstract:
   The past few years have seen a rapid expansion of the application of neuroimaging tools to the investigation of the genetics of brain structure and function. In this chapter, we will (1) highlight the most important steps during the historical development of this research field, (2) explain the major purposes of using neuroimaging in genetic research, (3) address methodological issues that are relevant with regard to the application of neuroimaging in genetic research, (4) give an overview of the present state-of-research, and (5) provide several examples of how neuroimaging was successfully applied. © 2005 Elsevier Inc.
