Current projects: Cortical mechanisms of depression, Optogenetic dissection of brain circuits in addiction

The ultimate goal of our research laboratory is to determine how the functional activity of neurons in limbic circuitry is controlled and altered by cellular and molecular mechanisms, particularly in response to stressors or drugs of abuse, which can ultimately promote dysregulated behavioral routines that are expressed during depressive and addictive states.
