    Abstract:
A study on the construction of multi-duct electrorheological (ER) dampers was carried out. The ER damper features multiple concentric electrodes that are electrically in parallel, but may be hydraulically inter-connected through multiple paths. The damper was analyzed in closed form by virtue of a linear approximation to the non-Newtonian Poiseuille flow equation. The results showed that the high-force ER devices that require low energy, and respond quickly, are feasible.
