   Abstract:
   Racemic methyl nonactate has been prepared in 11 steps from 2,2-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone with the diastereoisomeric relationships between C-2 and C-3, C-3 and C-6, and C-6 and C-8 established with stereoselectivities of 32:1, 50:1, and 24:1, respectively. © 1987, American Chemical Society.
